Incheon’s Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jung) announced that it opened its “2026 Security Screening and Aviation Security Personnel Training Program” on July 13 to strengthen the aviation industry employment capabilities of unemployed young people in the region and cultivate tailored talent needed for the airport economic zone.

The program was designed to systematically develop specialized personnel in security screening and aviation security, core job functions in the operation of Incheon International Airport. Aimed at providing quality jobs for young people while strengthening the competitiveness of the aviation industry, a key strategic sector for the region, the program is considered a flagship tailored job-creation project led by Yeongjong-gu District.
The project was selected last year for the “City-County/District Mutual Growth Job Support Project” competition, achieving a 72% employment rate as 26 of 36 trainees successfully found jobs. Building on this success, Yeongjong-gu District has further strengthened its youth job support this year by directly investing its own budget.
Over the course of June, the district recruited trainees, giving priority to unemployed young people aged 19 to 39 residing in the district. About 50 people applied, far exceeding the initial target and confirming strong interest. The district then selected a final 22 trainees through document screening and interviews. During the selection process, the district thoroughly reviewed airport hiring criteria and qualifications related to majors and job duties to ensure trainees could be deployed to work sites immediately upon completing the program.

The 22 selected trainees will receive a total of 86 hours of training over two weeks, from July 13 to July 24, through the specialized training institution Aviation Security Academy Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Yong-uk). The training consists of legally mandated courses, including 40 hours of initial training for security screening personnel and 30 hours of initial training for aviation security personnel, along with a 16-hour job-readiness program covering resume writing, mock interview coaching and individual presentations.
Starting in August, the district plans to continue providing full-fledged employment support services for program graduates, including intensive follow-up management and job matching.
Yeongjong-gu District Mayor Son Hwa-jung said, “I hope this training will be a valuable opportunity for young people to realize their dreams of becoming airport specialists, and further serve as a foundation for Yeongjong-gu District to leap forward as a central city of the global airport economic zone.” She added, “We will continue to discover tailored jobs linked to key regional industries, solidifying Yeongjong-gu District’s status as Korea’s leading airport economic hub city and injecting new vitality into the local economy.”
