Incheon’s Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) has sent out its regular July 2026 property tax bills. According to the district on the 15th, the property tax levied this time totals about 100,000 cases for the first installment, amounting to 30.9 billion won in tax revenue.

Property tax is a local tax levied twice a year on those who own real estate and other property as of June 1 each year. In July, tax is levied on half (50%) of the housing portion along with buildings, ships and aircraft, while in September, the remaining half (50%) of the housing portion and the land portion are levied.
The property tax collected in this way serves as an important source of funding that supports various administrative services for local residents, including welfare, education and safety, making it a tax item directly tied to the operation of the community, beyond a simple tax obligation.
Yeongjong-gu has set the payment period from Thursday, the 16th, to Friday, the 31st. Taxpayers can pay in person by visiting a financial institution or the district office, and can also conveniently pay their taxes through WETAX, the Smart WETAX mobile app, virtual accounts, or the automatic response telephone system (ARS, 142211).
However, if the payment deadline of July 31 is missed, an additional 3% late payment surcharge will be imposed, so taxpayers are advised to complete payment within the designated period to avoid unnecessary burden.
A Yeongjong-gu official said, “On the payment deadline of the 31st, inconvenience may arise due to congestion at financial institutions or a surge in access to WETAX, so we ask that you pay in advance if possible.”
Every year, as applications flood financial institutions and online payment systems close to the payment deadline, inconveniences such as access delays and longer waiting times recur, making it advisable to pay early with some time to spare in order to reduce such hassle.
