The event was carried out with members of the Manseok-dong Committee and volunteers working together to carefully prepare jjajangmyeon and serve it free of charge to local senior citizens. The seniors who attended shared a warm meal while catching up with one another, and the committee said it hoped to create an occasion for neighbors to share affection for one another through the event.

Lee Yeon-hun, chairman of the Korea Freedom Federation’s Manseok-dong Committee, said, “I deeply thank the members and volunteers who worked hard to prepare the event despite the sweltering weather, and we will continue to steadily carry out sharing activities for local senior citizens going forward.”

Kim Eun-jeong, head of Manseok-dong, said, “I thank the Korea Freedom Federation for preparing this valuable sharing event for local senior citizens, and the community welfare center will also cooperate to help build a warm village community.”

The sharing event served as an occasion to ease the sense of isolation felt by seniors living alone during the heat wave-stricken summer season and to strengthen community ties, and attention is being paid to whether the cooperation between the private organization and administrative agency will lead to continued care.
