Posted Article No. 53470

Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) is set to identify new preliminary social enterprises that will help solve local problems and create quality jobs. The city announced that it will conduct the 2026 Second Incheon-Type Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation Recruitment from August 3 to 21.

This recruitment drive is a program designed to discover and nurture innovative enterprises that provide social services needed by local communities while creating sustainable jobs. Corporations and organizations that are located in Incheon as of the announcement date and that meet the designation requirements are eligible to apply.

Following the first-half recruitment in which seven enterprises were newly designated, the city expects application demand to grow in the second half as financial support programs resume, and it plans to devote even greater effort to identifying and fostering outstanding preliminary social enterprises.

Applications are submitted online through the Integrated Business Management System (www.seis.or.kr) of the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency. Selected enterprises receive a range of growth support benefits, including eligibility to apply for direct financial support programs such as job creation subsidies, as well as interest subsidy support, participation in specialized training and consulting, eligibility to apply for competitive programs run by central government ministries, and support for priority purchasing by public institutions. This is expected to serve as a practical stepping stone for enterprises with weak early management foundations to advance toward self-sufficiency.

A business briefing to help applicant enterprises better understand the program will be held on Thursday, August 6, in the seminar room on the 13th floor of the Jemulpo Smart Town (JST). Enterprises wishing to attend can register in advance through the QR code included in the announcement.

The final selection results will be announced in early November through the Incheon City website (incheon.go.kr), following a document review of applicant enterprises, a joint on-site inspection with related agencies in September, and deliberation by a review committee in October.

Kim Sang-gil, head of the city’s Economy and Industry Headquarters, said, ‘The 9th popularly elected Incheon City administration will grow the social economy into an important pillar of livelihood economic recovery and regional innovation,’ adding, ‘We will do our best to realize social value that citizens can feel and to breathe vitality into the local economy by actively identifying and supporting preliminary social enterprises that solve local problems and provide stable jobs to vulnerable groups.’

Meanwhile, as of July 1, 2026, Incheon is home to a total of 257 (preliminary) social enterprises, including 57 preliminary social enterprises and 200 certified social enterprises. For further details on the recruitment, refer to the announcement posted on the Incheon City website, or contact the Incheon Social Economy Support Center (☎032-725-3305, 9) or the relevant department at the district or county office.
