The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it will host the 《Peace Talk Concert II》 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, at Inha University’s Hyeongyeong Hall, inviting Choi Tae-sung, EBS’s leading Korean history lecturer.
At this lecture, Choi will take the stage under the theme ‘For Us Living Today: The Value of Peace Conveyed by the Incheon Landing Operation.’ He plans to revisit the historical significance of the Incheon Landing Operation and to convey, at a level accessible to ordinary citizens, the values of freedom and peace that must be safeguarded today.
The Peace Talk Concert was planned as a relay program connecting citizens and experts. At the 《Peace Talk Concert I》 held on Aug. 5, Professor Vladimir Tikhonov (Pak Noja) of the University of Oslo lectured on the theme ‘In an Era of Global Upheaval, How Is Peace on the Korean Peninsula Possible?’ About 100 citizens attended and reflected together on the changing international order and the meaning of peace on the peninsula.
This year, the city of Incheon is running its Incheon Landing Operation commemorative projects with a focus on citizen participation and history and peace education. The concert was arranged so that citizens could first build a shared understanding of history and peace ahead of the expert-centered forum. A defining feature is that it focuses not on listing administrative achievements but on having citizens themselves reflect on the meaning of a historical event.
This concert is a linked program of the 《2026 Incheon Peace and Security Forum》, to be held on Sept. 14 at the Harborpark Hotel. At the forum, domestic and international experts will discuss the Korean Peninsula, changes in the international order, and the future of peace and security, creating a venue for citizens and experts to share the peace agenda together.
In addition, Incheon will hold the 76th Incheon Landing Operation Commemoration Week from Sept. 10 to 15. Through the Incheon Peace and Security Forum, the Incheon Landing Operation memorial ceremony, a citizens’ peace experience zone, and history education programs, the city plans to honor the sacrifice and dedication of veterans and to spread the values of freedom and peace together with future generations.
Yoon Byung-chul, director-general of the city’s administrative affairs bureau, said, ‘Peace is a value that begins with remembering the past and is built together for the future,’ adding, ‘I hope Choi Tae-sung’s special history lecture will give citizens an occasion to reflect on the historical significance of the Incheon Landing Operation and the value of peace it conveys to us today, and I ask for great interest and participation in the ensuing Incheon Peace and Security Forum and Commemoration Week events.’
Meanwhile, applications for the 《2026 Incheon Peace and Security Forum Peace Talk Concert II》 will be accepted from Aug. 5 to 29 for 400 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Citizens may make advance reservations through the QR code on the information poster or the online application page (https://qrq.kr/v/5c18e031). Those with advance reservations enter first, and on-site registration will be available only for remaining seats.
