Now in its 14th year, the competition is held annually with the aim of preserving and developing gugak, Korea’s traditional performing art, and discovering outstanding gugak artists. Participants took to the stage one after another with performances reflecting their individual character and talent, raising the competition’s excitement and drawing keen interest from the audience. Following category-by-category evaluations, major awards were presented to participants recognized for their exceptional skill.

In addition, a total of 69 performers across 32 teams, including winners in each category, earned the honor of an award.
A Ganghwa-gun official said, ‘This competition was a meaningful occasion where gugak artists from across the country came together in one place to share the beauty and value of our traditional performing arts,’ adding, ‘We will continue to make ongoing efforts to preserve and develop traditional culture, including gugak.’
