70 Business Owners at Subsidy-Receiving Facilities Complete Safety and Health Management System Training

Jemulpo-gu District held system-building session at Songnim Office Building on Oct. 2, along with 'Pledge to Eradicate Industrial Accidents' campaign

Jemulpo-gu District (Mayor Kim Chan-jin) in Incheon held a training session on building safety and health management systems on the 2nd at Sonamu Hall in the Songnim Office Building for business owners of subsidy-receiving facilities in the district. The session was intended to help business owners check and establish safety and health management systems at their own workplaces.

The training targeted owners of facilities receiving various subsidies from the district, including social welfare facilities and daycare centers. With business owners’ obligations to ensure safety and health to prevent industrial accidents growing steadily stricter, the course focused on content that can be applied immediately in the field.

About 70 people, including business owners, attended the session. Lectures covered ▲ the need to build a safety and health management system ▲ how to conduct workplace risk assessments ▲ designating safety and health managers and their roles ▲ how to use a self-inspection checklist for preventing serious accidents.

Near the end of the session, all attendees joined the ‘Pledge to Eradicate Industrial Accidents’ campaign. Participants read aloud and signed a resolution, pledging to ▲ observe safety rules at workplaces ▲ regularly inspect and improve hazards ▲ strengthen safety and health training for workers.

“I hope this training will help business owners improve their capacity for autonomous safety and health management,” Mayor Kim Chan-jin said. “We will continue to expand training and support to prevent industrial accidents at workplaces in the district.”

Because welfare facilities and daycare centers are closely tied to residents’ daily lives, stronger safety management capacity at these facilities could help ensure the safety of residents who use them and of the people who work there. The district’s follow-up training and expanded support are drawing attention.
