An event was held to share cases of broadcasting content produced with artificial intelligence technology, such as the drama ‘Kim Bujang’, and to explore the role of broadcasters in the AI era and ways to strengthen their capabilities. The Broadcasting Media Communications Commission (Chairman Kim Jong-cheol) and the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA, President Hong Beom-sik) held the ‘2026 Broadcasting Media Artificial Intelligence Innovation Talent Development Seminar’ in Seoul on the 10th.

The seminar was organized to support the spread of AI technology across broadcasting media production sites and to foster related convergence talent. At the event, which targeted broadcasting industry professionals, participants shared innovative cases of AI-driven broadcasting media production and the latest technology trends, and discussed the roles and capacity-building measures required of broadcasting media professionals in the era of the great AI transformation.

In the keynote address, Oh Soon-young, a principal at Amazon Web Services, spoke on the theme ‘What Should Broadcasting Media Professionals Prepare for in the AI Era’, presenting the latest technological changes, industry application trends, and the roles and competencies demanded of broadcasting media talent in the age of the great AI transformation.

This was followed by a presentation on ‘Cases of AI-Applied Broadcasting Content Production’, which introduced the production of AI-generated action scenes in the SBS drama ‘Kim Bujang’, as well as the use of AI in producing the MBC entertainment program ‘Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung’, which was selected last year for the Commission’s broadcasting program production support.

Under the theme ‘Cases of AI-Based Broadcasting Services and Work Innovation’, participants shared examples such as real-time AI subtitling and on-screen commentary for the 2026 North and Central America World Cup, the production and broadcasting of radio news using AI voice, and the automation of video post-production using an AI remover as applied to actual broadcast production. These cases demonstrate that AI is being genuinely introduced across the entire broadcasting production process, including subtitling and commentary, voice, and post-production, which can translate into more accessible broadcasting services for viewers and greater production efficiency.

The closing panel discussion was held under the theme ‘AI-Based Broadcasting Innovation: Field Changes and Challenges According to the Production Environment’. Practitioners from various broadcasters examined the changes in production processes and the efficiency gains brought about by the adoption of AI, and discussed how related technologies are used and the challenges of field application depending on the scale of the broadcaster and its production conditions.

In particular, the seminar showcased AI-based filming and editing solutions used in actual broadcast production sites, including the AI content production platform ‘Acron (Morpheus Studio)’ and the digital twin solution ‘ANNX (EMX)’. Demonstrations and hands-on experiences with major broadcasting equipment based on new technologies, such as ARRI, Canon, Sony, and Panasonic, also drew the attention of attendees.

Cheon Ji-hyun, Director-General of the Broadcasting Media Promotion Bureau, said, ‘I hope this seminar serves as an opportunity to raise broadcasting media professionals’ understanding of AI technology and their capacity to apply it in production by a notch, and to drive the broadcasting industry’s AI transformation more proactively.’
