Gangseo-gu in Seoul (Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon) is moving forward with its “Eco-Friendly Produce Support Program for Pregnant Women,” aimed at ensuring healthy food for expectant and new mothers and their babies. Under the program, pregnant women registered at addresses in Gangseo-gu and mothers who have given birth since January 1, 2025, will each receive 240,000 won worth of eco-friendly agricultural products delivered directly to their doorstep. This year, the district has been allocated 1,876 recipients, accounting for 6.7% of Seoul’s total citywide allocation — the second-largest share among the city’s 25 autonomous districts. Applications will be accepted from July 20 to August 2, with recipients confirmed by lottery after eligibility is verified.
The program comes amid growing public attention to food safety during pregnancy and childbirth, as the low birthrate remains a pressing social issue. According to the district, the initiative is designed not only to provide safe food for mothers and their soon-to-be-born children, but also to help expand sales channels for eco-friendly farms, creating a mutually beneficial structure with local agriculture. Officials say the goal goes beyond simple material support — it aims to spread a culture of eco-friendly consumption in the community and build an environment where parents can raise children with peace of mind.

Eligibility is limited to pregnant women registered at an address in Gangseo-gu or mothers who have given birth since January 1, 2025; residents already receiving support through the Nutrition Plus program or agri-food vouchers are excluded to prevent duplicate benefits. Those selected can receive a total of 240,000 won worth of produce, including a 20% co-payment (48,000 won) from the recipient. For example, if a recipient purchases 100,000 won worth of produce, 80,000 won is covered by the subsidy and the recipient pays only 20,000 won out of pocket.
Applications will be accepted from 10 a.m. on July 20 to 6 p.m. on August 2 through the Ecoemall website (ecoemall.com), requiring only identity verification and no additional documents. Those who have difficulty applying online may visit the Gangseo-gu Office’s Parks and Green Spaces Division (38 Yangcheon-ro 59-gil, 3rd floor) in person. The district will verify eligibility, determine recipients by lottery, and send individual text messages containing a unique identification number. Confirmed recipients can then sign up on the website of supplier Dure Consumers’ Cooperative’s pregnancy mall (www.ii.ecoop.or.kr) to order fresh produce, livestock products, and processed foods, choosing either a “select” package where they pick items themselves or a pre-composed “complete” package. Orders can be placed up to four times a month, each ranging from 40,000 to 100,000 won.
“I hope this program helps ensure safe and healthy eating for pregnant women and children, and serves as an opportunity to spread a culture of eco-friendly consumption in our community,” said Gangseo-gu Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon. “We will continue building a Gangseo-gu that is good for raising children by providing tangible support for childbirth and parenting that residents can truly feel.” Detailed application instructions are available in the notices section of the Gangseo-gu Office website and the Ecoemall website, and inquiries can be directed to the district office’s Parks and Green Spaces Division at 02-2600-6283.
