Posted Article No. 52183

Incheon’s Jemulpo District (Chief Kim Chan-jin) announced that it has levied 10.8 billion won in regular property tax for 2026. This marks the first property tax levy issued under the name Jemulpo District since the merger of the former Dong-gu and Jung-gu districts.

Property tax is a local tax imposed annually, based on ownership as of June 1, on housing, buildings, vessels and land located within Jemulpo District (the inland areas of the former Dong-gu and Jung-gu). The July levy covers half of the housing tax along with the building and vessel portions, while the remaining half of the housing tax and the land portion will be levied in September.

Payments can be made at any financial institution or post office nationwide. Taxpayers can also pay via CD or ATM machines using their own bankbook, debit card or credit card, even without a tax notice in hand. Those who find it difficult to visit a bank in person can conveniently pay through the local tax ARS payment service (☎142-211), Wetax (wetax.go.kr), mobile smartphone payment, or virtual account transfer. Transfers made to the “local tax revenue account” printed on the notice incur no fees.

The district is continuing to promote timely payment and prevent tax delinquency through various media, including electronic display boards, banners, posters and newsletters.

A district official said, “As this is the first property tax levy since Jemulpo District’s launch, the taxes paid by residents will serve as a vital funding source for the new district’s stable establishment and development, including enhancing resident welfare, providing services closely tied to daily life, and advancing local priority projects.” The official added, “We ask taxpayers to make their payments faithfully within the deadline.”

As this marks the first property tax levy since the launch of the integrated district, attention is also turning to how the collected revenue will be used to stabilize administration in the early stages of integration and address local priority issues.
