Yeongjong-gu (Governor Son Hwa-jeong) in Incheon had its chief personally visit a construction site to inspect defects, in an effort to address resident complaints that arose ahead of move-ins at a new apartment complex. On the 13th, Yeongjong-gu visited the “Yeongjong Ocean Park Mo A Elgae Grande” apartment complex, which is nearing move-in, and conducted an on-site inspection to directly check complaints and facility defects raised by prospective residents.

The inspection was organized to identify, at an early stage, the defect-related complaints that commonly arise during the move-in phase of new apartment complexes, and to provide a venue for smooth communication between the developer responsible for construction and the residents awaiting move-in so that solutions could be found.
Governor Son Hwa-jeong, the head of the building division and other relevant officials, developer representatives, and members of the prospective residents’ council all took part in the on-site visit. They toured the areas where defects were concentrated to check conditions, shared action plans for each complaint, and discussed specific solutions.
In the case of newly built apartment complexes, it is not uncommon for defects, large and small, to be found in finishing materials or facilities ahead of move-in, which often leads to conflict stemming from differences of opinion between the developer and residents. Yeongjong-gu’s move to step in as a mediator at the administrative level is seen as a measure to reduce such conflicts in advance.
Building on this inspection, Yeongjong-gu plans to continue expanding the communication channel between the developer and residents and to keep guiding and monitoring the process going forward, so that repairs for confirmed defects are carried out without delay.
Governor Son Hwa-jeong said, “So that residents can move in with peace of mind, we will thoroughly follow up on the complaints and defects that have been raised, and we will spare no administrative support to ensure prompt repairs through continued consultation with the project operator.”
She added, “We will continue to do our utmost to resolve residents’ inconveniences and improve the quality of apartment complexes through proactive, on-site-focused administration.”
