The ceremony marked the launch of the Yeongjong-gu Cultural Center, newly established as part of Incheon’s administrative restructuring, and was held to announce a fresh start toward promoting local culture and expanding residents’ access to cultural experiences.

About 60 people, including Yeongjong-gu Deputy Mayor Park Yu-jin, Rep. Bae Jun-young, Yeongjong-gu Council Chair Choi Mi-ja, district council members, heads of cultural centers from Incheon’s counties and districts, Yeongjong-gu Cultural Center executives and local cultural and arts figures, attended the event to celebrate the opening.

“I am grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating the opening ceremony,” said Park Bong-ju, director of the Yeongjong-gu Cultural Center. “We will do our best to establish the Yeongjong-gu Cultural Center as a hub institution that carries on and develops the region’s history and culture.”

Going forward, the Yeongjong-gu Cultural Center plans to carry out a range of projects, including research on local culture, preservation of traditional culture, and the operation of cultural and arts events and cultural courses, to contribute to promoting local culture and expanding residents’ cultural experiences. As Yeongjong-gu, a newly established district, now has its own dedicated cultural hub institution, the opening is regarded as a first step toward expanding the region’s cultural infrastructure.
