Incheon’s Yeongjong-gu District (Governor Son Hwa-jeong) will hold a series of meetings with residents across six neighborhoods in the district from the 21st to the 29th. The event, titled “First Meeting with Residents, Talking About Yeongjong,” is intended to let Son, the district’s inaugural governor marking three weeks in office, hear directly from residents on the ground and reflect their views in district administration.

Governor Son took office as Yeongjong-gu’s first governor when the district was newly launched on July 1 this year as part of Incheon’s administrative system reorganization. Having spent the past three weeks closely reviewing pending district affairs, she has arranged this round of neighborhood meetings as an open forum to meet residents from all walks of life face to face and discuss the district’s development direction together, the district explained.

The tour schedule begins in Yeongjong-dong on the 21st, followed by Yeongjong 1- and 2-dong on the 22nd, Unseo 1- and 2-dong on the 23rd, and Yongyu-dong on the 24th, before concluding on Muui-do on the 29th. The meetings will be held in the main halls or conference rooms of each neighborhood’s administrative welfare center, with the final stop on Muui-do taking place at the Yongyu 10-tong Welfare Hall. Any resident interested in Yeongjong-gu’s development is welcome to attend freely and share views with the governor.

The meetings will focus on livelihood-related issues that residents experience in daily life. Topics to be discussed include road and sidewalk maintenance, expansion of streetlights and safety CCTV, improvements to parking conditions, adjustments to public transportation routes, and the creation of safe school commute routes, with the governor and relevant department heads set to hear opinions directly on-site and seek practical solutions.

“For Yeongjong-gu, which is making a new start, to leap forward successfully, it is essential above all to communicate directly with residents on the ground and find answers together,” Governor Son Hwa-jeong said. “I will value each and every opinion shared on-site and work to build an exemplary Yeongjong-gu where all residents can be happy.”

This communication initiative carries significance in that Yeongjong-gu, a newly established autonomous district, is setting the initial direction of its administration together with residents from the outset. Detailed information on the times and locations of the events can be found in the notices section of the Yeongjong-gu website (www.yeongjong.go.kr).
