Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) of Incheon held an “Integrity Week” involving all employees for three days from July 14 to 16, spreading a spirit of integrity throughout the organization with hands-on programs including a sticker campaign, a photo zone and live education. The district announced the results of the program on July 20.

The Integrity Week was planned as part of proactive administration efforts to establish a clean public service culture for the newly launched Yeongjong-gu and to raise employees’ awareness of putting integrity into practice. The core goal was to transform the theme of “integrity,” which can easily come across as rigid and heavy, into a culture that employees can enjoy in their daily lives without resistance.
The format also went beyond one-way lectures. The district wove education, campaigns and participatory programs into a single flow to encourage employees to take action on their own, focusing on helping an organizational culture take root naturally in which integrity is practiced together as a daily habit rather than a slogan.

The response was enthusiastic. During Integrity Week, employees flocked to the “Filling Integrity Together” sticker campaign and the “Integrity Four-Cut” photo zone. Employees placed stickers on integrity-related phrases from everyday life to reaffirm the right mindset together, and took and shared photos of their personal integrity pledges with colleagues, encouraging one another’s commitment to putting them into practice.
On the final day of the event, an “Integrity Live Education” session conducted by the Anti-Corruption Training Institute was held for all employees at the performance hall of the Youth Training Center. The program, which incorporates cultural and artistic content, was designed to make integrity easy and engaging to understand, and served as an occasion to reflect on the value of integrity and the public service ethics that officials must uphold.

Given that integrity in the public sector is the foundation of residents’ trust in the administration, this initiative, which put experience-centered integrity policies at the forefront from the district’s first year, is seen as part of the newly established district’s process of laying the groundwork for its organizational culture. For residents, it is also significant in that a clean public service leads to administrative services they can trust and rely on.
Mayor Son Hwa-jeong of Yeongjong-gu said, “Integrity is the most fundamental value in building residents’ trust and the most important duty of public officials,” adding, “We will continue to promote the spread of a culture of integrity in daily life and a variety of practice-oriented integrity policies so that the newly launched Yeongjong-gu can deliver an administration that earns the public’s trust.”
