The Incheon Metropolitan Government is once again opening a marketplace to expand sales channels for social economy enterprises and to offer citizens the chance to practice value-driven consumption. Incheon City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it will hold the 2026 2nd Jemulpo Deodamji Market on August 12 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. along the walkway in front of the Waterworks Authority headquarters.

The market was prepared to give local social economy enterprises a sales channel where they can meet consumers directly, while offering citizens a chance to experience consumption that carries social value. At the venue, the sale of social economy enterprise products will be accompanied by a variety of hands-on events.
The 2nd market will feature a total of 20 businesses, including 17 social economy enterprises and 3 Culture Nuri participants. These businesses will showcase their own products while also running hands-on programs in which citizens can take part directly. The event will run for six hours, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., so that even commuters on their way home can drop by with ease.
The 1st event, held earlier on June 24, drew about 600 visitors and recorded 59.3 million won in sales over a single day. Such results achieved in just one day show how strongly citizens responded to the effort to expand sales channels for social economy enterprises and to foster a culture of mutually beneficial local consumption.
Social economy enterprises pursue community values such as job creation, local circulation, and support for the socially vulnerable, alongside the pursuit of profit. Yet they often struggle to grow because their sales channels are narrow compared with large distribution networks. The fact that the city itself opens a marketplace to create points of contact with consumers is meaningful as practical support that helps offset these structural limits. For citizens, too, it is an opportunity to experience the kind of shared-benefit consumption in which their spending flows back into the local community.
Through this 2nd event, the city plans to build on the achievements of the first, while also holding additional markets in the second half of the year to support the promotion and sustainable growth of social economy enterprises.
Kim Sang-gil, head of the city’s Economy and Industry Headquarters, said, ‘I hope the Jemulpo Deodamji Market becomes a genuine opportunity for growth for social economy enterprises and a place of shared benefit where citizens experience value-driven consumption,’ adding, ‘We will continue to spare no support for spreading social value together with the local community.’
