Incheon’s Yeongjong-gu District (District Chief Son Hwa-jeong) is launching a full-scale effort to gather resident feedback aimed at shaping the new Dongseo 2-dong Community Service Center building into a space centered on residents. The district announced it will hold a “Resident Briefing Session on the Construction of the New Dongseo 2-dong Community Service Center” at 2 p.m. on the 19th in the main auditorium of the current Dongseo 2-dong Community Service Center.

The briefing session is intended to increase transparency in the project by allowing Yeongjong-gu, newly launched this year, to share the progress of the new building project with residents and explain the master plan. It also reflects the district’s intention to incorporate a wide range of resident opinions from the design stage onward, so that the building suits the needs of the residents who will actually use it.

The session will begin with a presentation on the progress of the community center construction project and the master plan, followed by a question-and-answer period to gather residents’ opinions.

The new building will be constructed in the area around 3050-4 Unseo-dong, with one basement level and four stories above ground, totaling roughly 3,200 square meters in floor area. Construction is targeted to begin in the second half of 2027, with the building planned as a complex space that will offer not only administrative functions but also room for a variety of resident activities.

“We will focus on faithfully incorporating residents’ opinions to complete a truly resident-centered, top-quality community service center,” said Son Hwa-jeong, chief of Yeongjong-gu District. “We hope many residents will attend and actively share their various opinions.”

As a newly established district still in the process of building out infrastructure such as community service centers in each administrative dong, Yeongjong-gu’s briefing session is expected to serve as a benchmark for resident-participatory approaches in future public facility construction projects in other areas as well.
