Ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) is holding a sale showcasing products handmade by senior citizens who take part in its senior job programs. The event aims to support the seniors’ income and self-reliance while sharing the social value of senior employment with the public.

The Incheon Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the 2026 Chuseok Incheon Senior Job Program Product Sale for two days, from Monday, Sept. 14 to Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Central Hall on the first floor of City Hall’s main building. Viewing and purchasing will be available both days from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and anyone may visit freely without prior registration.

All 11 senior employment support agencies in the Incheon area will take part in the sale. Some 100 kinds of products carefully crafted by the seniors — including Chuseok gift sets, crafts, household goods, cookies, homemade fruit syrups and diffusers — will be exhibited and sold. With items that combine practicality and care, the event is expected to draw a steady stream of residents looking to prepare holiday gifts.

To make purchasing more convenient, pre-orders will be accepted ahead of the on-site sale. Pre-orders will run from Tuesday, Sept. 1 to Thursday, Sept. 10 via a Naver form; customers can order the products they want in advance and then pick them up and pay at the sale venue at City Hall during the event.

Beyond simply selling goods, the event is expected to broaden sales channels for products made with the seniors’ experience and skills, and to spark public interest and participation in senior job programs. Proceeds from the sale will go toward operating the senior job programs and boosting the income of the participating seniors.

Incheon City has worked to develop tailored jobs suited to seniors’ health, capabilities and needs. In particular, it has steadily expanded jobs that create social value, such as collecting waste medicines and used batteries, recycling paper cartons and offering free toy repairs in the environmental field, as well as supporting care classrooms and Neulbom schools. Such activities are significant in that they provide seniors with income while entrusting them with roles the local community needs.

Kim Sang-jeong, head of the city’s Senior Policy Division, said, ‘This Chuseok sale is a meaningful occasion where seniors present directly to residents the products they have made with the experience and dedication built up on the job.’ She added, ‘We hope residents will purchase these quality products, thereby raising the seniors’ sense of pride and lending strength to building sustainable senior employment.’

Meanwhile, further details about the 2026 Chuseok Incheon Senior Job Program Product Sale and instructions for pre-ordering can be found through the website of the Incheon Metropolitan Senior Human Resources Development Center and each participating agency.
