Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will open the second session of the 2026 Resource Recycling Green Sharing Market at Aetteul Square in front of Incheon City Hall from noon on September 12. It is an occasion where citizens buy, sell, or exchange goods they no longer use, putting carbon neutrality and a culture of sharing into practice together.

Incheon City announced that it will hold the second session of the 2026 Resource Recycling Green Sharing Market (hereinafter the Sharing Market) at Aetteul Square in front of Incheon City Hall from noon on September 12. The event is hosted by Incheon City and organized by the Incheon YWCA.

Running under the slogan ‘The value of reuse, a future we share together,’ the Sharing Market is a citizen-participation event in which residents directly buy, sell, or exchange goods they no longer use. Going beyond simple secondhand trade, it stands out for donating part of the sales proceeds as scholarships, realizing both the value of resource reuse and community sharing at the same time.

This second session centers on a sharing zone in which citizens take part directly, alongside a household-goods zone, an experience zone, a sharing cafe, and a donation zone. In particular, a new related exhibition designed to deepen understanding of resource recycling and the environment has been prepared, with the aim of making it easier for citizens to learn practical ways to act in daily life.

A ‘popcorn sharing event’ will also be held to reduce the use of disposable products and to help establish an eco-friendly lifestyle. Citizens who bring reusable containers such as sealed containers are eligible: sellers receive one serving per person, while general visitors have their containers filled with popcorn when they take part in the ‘my own environmental pledge’ event.

The first session, held earlier on July 4, drew some 1,500 citizens and about 150 seller teams despite the sweltering weather. Participants shared clothing, books, toys, and household items, experiencing the meaning of resource reuse firsthand and actively joining various hands-on programs.

Sellers may apply in advance through the reservation system on the Incheon YWCA website or by entering ‘Incheon YWCA’ in the Naver search box. For seniors aged 70 and over and people with disabilities who find digital access difficult, 10 dedicated consideration seats accepting phone registration are operated separately, lowering the barrier to participation.

Jeong Seung-hwan, director of the city’s Environment Bureau, said, ‘We are deeply grateful for the warm interest and participation citizens showed at the first Sharing Market,’ adding, ‘For this second session as well, we will prepare thoroughly so that citizens can feel the joy of sharing goods and meaningfully practice resource recycling in their daily lives.’
