Incheon Metropolitan City (Mayor Park Chan-dae) held its September monthly staff assembly at the City Hall grand conference room on the 3rd. The assembly drew some 300 participants, including city hall staff as well as officials from directly affiliated agencies, the Free Economic Zone Authority, and business offices.

This monthly assembly was arranged to share the key direction of city administration with staff in step with the fresh start of the 9th elected administration, and to reaffirm the role and responsibility of the public sector in delivering administrative results that citizens can feel firsthand. As the administration begins a new term, the gathering carried the meaning of aligning the organization’s internal direction.

The event proceeded with the presentation of commendations to outstanding public servants, followed by an address from Mayor Park Chan-dae and a special lecture on artificial intelligence (AI). In his address, Mayor Park shared the direction of the 9th elected administration with staff and stressed that ‘the changes and results that citizens feel firsthand ultimately come from the field.’ He went on to say, ‘Citizens’ trust is our foundation,’ and called on staff to ‘create results together that live up to citizens’ expectations.’

The lecture that followed the address centered on artificial intelligence (AI), addressing the importance of creative thinking, expertise, and future-readiness that the public sector needs to respond flexibly to a rapidly changing administrative environment. Participants explored together the potential of applying the rapidly emerging AI technology to administration, and deepened their understanding of the digital capabilities the public sector should build and how they can be applied in practice.

Amid the accelerating digital transformation of administrative services, the lecture left room for improvements in resident services in that it prompted staff to consider for themselves how to incorporate new technology into actual civil-service and policy settings.

Incheon City plans to continue running programs in which staff can take part and find common ground, fostering a vibrant organizational culture and strengthening the organization’s capacity to respond proactively to a changing administrative environment.

Meanwhile, related photos are scheduled to be posted after the event concludes (10 a.m.) on the Incheon City website under ‘Incheon Internet Broadcasting’ → ‘Incheon News’ → ‘Photo Administration’ (https://www.incheon.go.kr/intv/TV010201).
