The Incheon Metropolitan City government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it will newly designate six caregiver (yoyang bohosa) training institutions in order to meet regional training demand and improve the quality of care services. With the elderly population rising rapidly and demand for caregivers growing, the measure is aimed at expanding the training infrastructure and laying the groundwork for workforce development.

The new designations, decided in consideration of the distribution of training infrastructure and demand by district, will be allocated one each to Ganghwa-gun, Ongjin-gun, Jemulpo-gu, Yeongjong-gu, Yeonsu-gu, and Geomdan-gu. Incheon currently operates 30 caregiver training institutions, and once the designations are completed the total will rise to 36. Convenience will be extended even to areas that had relatively few training institutions, creating conditions in which residents seeking to obtain caregiver certification can receive training close to where they live.

Incheon is also paying attention to the fairness and transparency of the designation process. The city plans to hold an open recruitment for institutions wishing to take part, and then make the final selections after document screening and on-site verification in accordance with the relevant laws and standards.

Applications will be accepted from 9 a.m. on October 12 to 5 p.m. on October 14. Institutions wishing to apply may submit the required documents, including the application form and a written pledge, either in person at the Incheon Metropolitan City Integrated Care Division or by email (yop22@korea.kr). Detailed information on the notice can be found in the notices and announcements section of the official Incheon city website.

Kim Jong-ho, director-general of the city’s Integrated Care Bureau, emphasized, ‘Caregivers are an essential part of the care workforce who look after the daily lives and health of our elderly residents at the closest range,’ adding, ‘By selecting institutions with excellent training capabilities through a fair and transparent process, we will continue to raise the expertise and reliability of care services within the region.’
