Yeongjong-gu District (Mayor Son Hwa-jeong) in Incheon is running the “2026 Second-Half Traffic Safety Education at Anyanggol Children’s Traffic Park” to raise children’s awareness of traffic safety and help them build proper safety habits. The district announced the program on the 7th.

The education is being held from September through November at the Anyanggol Children’s Traffic Park training center in Unnam-dong. It is an indoor and outdoor hands-on program in which children learn traffic safety rules by practicing them directly in a space designed to resemble real traffic conditions.

The curriculum is tailored to children’s perspective. It covers understanding traffic signals and road signs, crossing crosswalks safely, traffic safety rules for pedestrians and how to report emergencies by phone.

The program is distinguished by its departure from theory-based lessons, letting children see, hear and experience the material for themselves. The district plans to help children naturally absorb traffic safety rules and put them into practice in daily life.

So far this year, a total of 875 children from 37 institutions have participated in the program. As children’s pedestrian safety is regarded as a major concern in the local community, repeated hands-on education is expected to contribute to building safe habits.

“The process of directly experiencing and repeatedly practicing traffic safety rules is very important in forming children’s safe living habits,” Mayor Son Hwa-jeong said. “We will continue to work so that children can learn traffic safety while participating with enjoyment.”
