The Incheon Metropolitan City government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) will host the 2026 Incheon Youth Week for five days from Sept. 16 to 20, creating a festive setting for young people and citizens alike. This year’s theme is ‘Overwhelm, Incheon! Leap Forward, Youth!’, and a variety of events cheering on the independence and growth of young people will unfold across the city.

Youth Day is a statutory commemorative day designated as the third Saturday of September each year under the Framework Act on Youth, which took effect in August 2020, and Youth Week runs for one week starting from Youth Day. Incheon plans to use this period as an occasion for dialogue that connects the voices of young people to policy.

The centerpiece of the week is the 7th Incheon Youth Day ceremony, to be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Wave Hall of the Sangsang Platform. The ceremony will be divided into three parts. In the pre-ceremony program and university festival performances of Part 1, local college students will take the stage with hip-hop, street dance and R&B, while Part 2, the ceremony proper, will feature awards for those who have contributed to youth activities along with performances cheering on the dreams and hopes of young people. In the Part 3 celebratory concert, an EDM duo stage by the Korea Coast Guard band and a performance by Welcome to the Jungle (Yogi-Jogi Concert) will be followed by hip-hop artist BewhY, who will cap off the finale.

Side events for young people will also be held simultaneously around the Sangsang Platform venue. The youth experience zone will offer MBTI career recommendations, personal color diagnosis, an AI photo booth and stress screening counseling, while the youth flea market zone will showcase items from teams of local youth creators. At the policy promotion booths, the ‘Youth Mental Health Campaign’ supporting mental well-being and stress screening, the ‘You-You Four-Cut’ photo event by the youth space You-You Base, and information on the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s National Employment Support Program will be provided, and related organizations — including the Incheon Youth Future Center, the Incheon Carbon Neutrality Research Support Center, the Incheon Labor Rights Center, the Work-Life Balance Support Center and the Island Development Support Center — will take part with campaigns and events.

Week-long connected programs will also follow closely one after another. It begins on Sept. 16 with a youth forum at You-You Base related to a feasibility study on establishing the Incheon Youth Foundation, followed on the 17th by the ‘2026 Incheon Youth Job Fair’ at Inha University and Incheon National University. On the 18th, a Young Couples Day will be held at the Incheon Startup Park, and on the 20th a youth policy competition will take place at the Teum Culture Creation Zone and a youth-tastes Digging Festival at the Sangsang Platform.

In particular, the ‘Young Couples Day’, organized as a project proposed by the Incheon Youth Policy Network, offers a time of recharging for young couples worn out by child-rearing and daily life. Comedian Song Pil-geun will host the event, and a healing performance by guest singer Hong Dae-kwang is scheduled; applications to participate will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting Sept. 1. The lineup, which spans from the job fair to the policy competition and encompasses both employment and policy participation, is seen as reflecting an intent to ensure that Youth Week goes beyond a one-off festival and connects to young people’s actual lives and careers.

Detailed schedules and information on how to take part in the programs can be found on the official website of the Incheon Youth Portal (Incheon Youth Talk-Talk).

Nam Young-hee, Vice Mayor for Balanced Development, said, ‘I hope this event will become a precious opportunity for young people to nurture their dreams, encourage one another and grow together’, adding, ‘We will continue to strengthen the foundation for young people’s independence through comprehensive support in jobs, housing, education, welfare and culture.’
