The Incheon Metropolitan Government will hold the ’62nd Citizens’ Day Grand Festival for Incheon Citizens’ at the Eoul Big Yard in Incheon Grand Park on October 10. As the first such event of the ninth popularly elected administration, it has been arranged as a gathering of harmony where citizens of various generations and walks of life come together to celebrate Citizens’ Day and connect with one another. In particular, the ceremony will mark the first official unveiling of the new municipal slogan of the ninth administration.

The event opens at 11 a.m. with a pre-performance. A wind ensemble and folk art performances will take the stage, alongside hands-on programs that the whole family can enjoy together, including crafts, art, and upcycling. From 3 p.m., the Citizens’ Culture and Arts Festival performances begin in earnest. In addition to a diverse lineup of cultural and artistic performances such as an orchestra and a choir, municipal promotion booths will be set up where citizens can learn about and directly experience Incheon’s key policies.

The municipal promotion booths will introduce policies in areas closely tied to daily life, such as the environment, care services, tourism, and science. Through participatory programs including image creation using generative AI, VR and drone experiences, and CPR training, the city aims to let citizens see and physically experience its policies firsthand.

At the 62nd Citizens’ Day ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m., the awards ceremony for the ’48th Incheon Metropolitan City Citizens’ Award’ will be held to honor the contributions of citizens who have devoted themselves to the development of the local community. This will be followed by a ceremony to unveil the ninth administration’s municipal slogan, joined by key guests and citizen representatives, sharing the new slogan and its meaning with the public. After the ceremony, a special performance by the Incheon Metropolitan Boys’ and Girls’ Choir will follow.

The congratulatory performances of the Citizens’ Culture and Arts Festival following the ceremony will feature singers such as Park Ki-young and Lee Seok-hoon. The event will conclude with a drone light show illuminating the night sky over Incheon.

The city is extending the festival beyond a single day into citizens’ everyday lives. It will run a ‘Citizens’ Happiness Week’ for 15 days from October 10 to 24, including Citizens’ Day on October 15. During this period, various events in culture, the arts, tourism, sports, and exhibitions will be jointly promoted in connection with Citizens’ Day, and participatory programs will be operated so that citizens can enjoy and connect with one another.

In particular, during Citizens’ Happiness Week, benefits for Incheon citizens will be offered at lodging, tourism, and cultural facilities. Detailed information such as the period of use and discount rates for each facility can be found on the Incheon city website. In this way, the festival goes beyond being a one-day spectacle and leads to benefits that citizens can actually feel in their daily lives.

Mayor Park Chan-dae said, ‘Citizens’ Day is a meaningful day when the citizens, the true owners of Incheon, gather in one place to share pride in Incheon and envision the future together,’ adding, ‘I hope it will become a starting point for sharing the vision and values of the ninth administration’s city governance with the citizens and for building together an Incheon where citizens are happy.’
