MeeHa Solo Exhibition, Rippling Time Explores the Flow of Memory and Emotion
Transparent, fluid objects reveal how time, memory, and emotion continue to change
Everyday objects are transformed into unfamiliar images shaped by flowing memories
MeeHa visualizes moments of change through objects that appear as fluid as water
MeeHa’s solo exhibition “Rippling Time” will be held at GALLERY VIV in Gangnam, Seoul, from August 17 to 23, 2026. Known for transforming familiar everyday objects into transparent and fluid images, artist MeeHa explores how thoughts, emotions, and memories change over time. The exhibition will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

MeeHa begins her work with a simple question: Is anything in the world truly fixed?
Objects may appear solid and unchanging, but their meanings continuously shift depending on time, relationships, and individual experiences. Human thoughts and emotions also rarely remain in one place. What felt certain yesterday may become a question today, while an ordinary memory can later return as something deeply meaningful.
The artist compares these changes to the nature of liquid. Water changes its form depending on the container that holds it. It also mixes with other substances and becomes something new. MeeHa views the world in a similar way. Personal emotions, memories, relationships, and social environments constantly interact and reshape one another.
The MeeHa solo exhibition features familiar objects such as headphones, hats, cupcakes, helmets, skateboards, balloon dogs, and lollipops. In her paintings, however, these objects no longer retain their ordinary physical characteristics. They appear transparent and fluid, resembling glass or water.
This transformation encourages viewers to see familiar objects from a different perspective. From a distance, the clear and delicate shapes attract attention first. As viewers move closer, short phrases layered behind or within the images gradually become visible.
These words do more than explain the objects. They add another emotional and narrative dimension to each image. Looking at a familiar object can therefore become an opportunity for viewers to recall their own memories, emotions, and personal experiences.
The visual language seen in “Rippling Time” also reflects themes that have appeared throughout MeeHa’s previous work. In her 2026 solo exhibition “Moments in Flow,” the artist explored the idea that thoughts are never completely fixed and are always changing. Transparent, liquid-like objects became a visual metaphor for this continuous movement.
Text has also played an important role in her work. MeeHa has described these translucent phrases as “Water Graffiti.” Depending on lighting conditions and the viewer’s position, the words may appear differently, creating a shifting relationship between image, language, and perception.
In “Rippling Time,” this artistic language expands further into the themes of time and memory.
The exhibition is not simply about objects that look like liquid. It asks how the thoughts surrounding an object can change, how emotions evolve, and how memories gain different meanings as time passes.
People may look at the same object every day, but their feelings toward it do not always remain the same. Something once considered insignificant may later trigger a powerful memory. A cherished object may also become unfamiliar after circumstances change.
The object itself may appear unchanged, but the person looking at it continues to move through time.
The title “Rippling Time” reflects this constant movement. Even when time appears still, it continues to pass. Memory is also never preserved in a completely fixed form. New experiences and emotions can reshape how people understand their own past.
Some moments cannot be held precisely because they continue to flow. Yet those same moments may remain more vividly in memory because they cannot be fully captured.
MeeHa expresses this paradox through transparent and fluid objects.
Why does MeeHa paint objects as if they were made of liquid?
For the artist, liquid functions as a visual language representing thoughts, emotions, and states of existence that are constantly changing. By removing the solid appearance of everyday objects, she reveals the instability and flexibility of human perception and memory.
What does “Rippling Time” present to its audience?
The exhibition presents paintings based on familiar everyday objects while inviting viewers to reconsider the memories and emotions connected to them. As visitors approach the works and discover phrases embedded within the images, they can form their own relationships between the artwork and their personal memories.
GALLERY VIV aims to provide a space where contemporary art can engage with audiences through new perspectives and creative dialogue. Through MeeHa’s solo exhibition, the gallery presents moments when familiar objects are transformed into unfamiliar sensations and when emotions and memories take on new meanings over time.
The exhibition also invites viewers to briefly turn their attention toward moments that are often overlooked in a rapidly changing world.
There is no single interpretation that visitors are required to find. Instead, the experience begins with observing the transparent objects and hidden words, then connecting them with memories from one’s own life.
Is anything in the world truly fixed?
Rather than offering a definitive answer, MeeHa leaves the question with the audience. The same object may appear different depending on when it is seen. The same memory may also acquire a new meaning depending on how a person feels today.
The MeeHa solo exhibition “Rippling Time” will run from August 17 to 23 at GALLERY VIV in Gangnam, Seoul. Through transparent, flowing images, visitors are invited to encounter the moment when personal memory meets the passage of time.
