AI 콘텐츠 OTT 플랫폼인 아이플릭스가 AI 창작자를 위한 새로운 콘텐츠 생태계 구축에 나서고 있다. 황창선 대표는 AI 콘텐츠가 단순한 기술 실험을 넘어 하나의 독립적인 산업으로 성장하기 위해서는 창작자가 안정적으로 작품을 공개하고 수익을 창출할 수 있는 전문 플랫폼이 필요하다고 강조했다. 이번 인터뷰에서는 아이플릭스의 설립 배경과 차별화 전략, 창작자 지원 정책, 저작권 대응, 글로벌 진출 계획 등을 소개했다.

황창선 대표는 아이플릭스를 AI 영상, 애니메이션, 웹툰, 웹소설, 음악, 캐릭터 콘텐츠를 전문적으로 서비스하는 AI 콘텐츠 OTT 플랫폼으로 소개했다. 기존 OTT가 완성된 영화나 드라마 중심이라면 아이플릭스는 AI 창작자들이 자신의 콘텐츠를 공개하고 다양한 방식으로 수익을 창출하며 지식재산권(IP)으로 확장할 수 있는 기반을 만드는 것을 목표로 한다고 설명했다.

그는 AI 콘텐츠 시장이 빠르게 성장하고 있지만 현재 대부분의 작품이 SNS나 개인 채널에 흩어져 있으며, 기존 플랫폼에서는 독립적인 콘텐츠 산업으로 충분한 평가를 받지 못하고 있다고 진단했다. 이러한 한계를 해결하기 위해 AI 콘텐츠만을 전문적으로 소개하고 검수하며 유통하는 플랫폼이 필요했고, 그 결과 아이플릭스가 출범하게 됐다고 밝혔다.

아이플릭스의 핵심 경쟁력은 AI 콘텐츠에 특화된 플랫폼이라는 점이다. 인터뷰에 따르면 하나의 AI 웹소설이 웹툰, 숏폼 영상, 애니메이션, 음원, 캐릭터 상품으로 이어질 수 있는 IP 확장 구조를 지향한다. 이는 단순히 영상을 제공하는 서비스를 넘어 하나의 콘텐츠를 다양한 산업으로 연결하는 모델이라는 설명이다.

플랫폼 운영에서도 품질 관리와 권리 보호를 중요한 기준으로 제시했다. AI 기술이 실제 제작 과정에 의미 있게 활용됐는지, 창작자의 기획 의도가 명확한지, 저작권과 초상권 문제가 없는지 등을 검토해 콘텐츠를 등록할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 또한 타인의 권리를 침해하거나 유명 인물과 캐릭터를 무단 활용한 콘텐츠는 제한 또는 반려 대상이 될 수 있다고 설명했다.

창작자 지원도 중요한 전략 가운데 하나다. 인터뷰에서는 유료 콘텐츠 판매, 광고 수익 배분, 후원 시스템, 향후 구독형 서비스와 기업 협업 등을 통한 다양한 수익 모델을 준비하고 있다고 소개했다. 특히 창작자가 자신의 IP를 계속 보유한 상태에서 플랫폼은 유통과 사업 확장을 지원하는 파트너 역할을 지향한다고 강조했다.

저작권 문제에 대해서는 AI 콘텐츠 산업의 지속 가능성을 좌우하는 핵심 과제로 평가했다. AI가 생성한 결과물이라 하더라도 기획과 프롬프트 설계, 편집, 연출, 원천 자료의 권리 관계 등을 함께 고려해야 하며, 초상권과 퍼블리시티권 침해 가능성이 있는 콘텐츠는 엄격하게 대응하겠다는 방침을 밝혔다. 등록 과정에서 권리 확인 절차를 운영하고 필요 시 법률 검토도 진행할 계획이라고 설명했다.

AI와 인간 창작자의 관계에 대해서도 견해를 밝혔다. 황 대표는 AI가 인간 창작자를 대체하기보다 표현력을 확장하는 도구가 될 것이라고 말했다. 반복적인 제작 과정은 AI가 지원할 수 있지만 이야기 구성과 감정 전달, 세계관 설계는 여전히 인간 창작자의 역할이라고 강조했다. 그는 앞으로 AI 콘텐츠 감독과 프롬프트 디렉터, AI IP 프로듀서 등 새로운 직업이 등장할 것으로 전망했다.

콘텐츠 경쟁력은 결국 사람의 기획력에서 나온다는 점도 강조했다. AI 기술 자체보다 이야기의 완성도와 캐릭터의 매력, 연출의 일관성이 좋은 콘텐츠를 만든다는 설명이다. 아이플릭스 역시 단순히 AI로 제작됐다는 이유만으로 콘텐츠를 평가하지 않고 사람의 감정과 스토리가 살아 있는 작품을 지향한다고 밝혔다.

현재 아이플릭스는 베타서비스를 운영하며 플랫폼 안정성과 이용자 반응을 점검하고 있다. AI 숏폼과 애니메이션, 웹소설 기반 콘텐츠 등을 확보하고 있으며 창작자 모집도 계속 진행 중이다. 이용자들은 AI 영상과 AI 애니메이션, 웹소설 기반 영상화 콘텐츠에 높은 관심을 보이고 있다고 설명했다. 정식 서비스 시점은 베타서비스 결과를 바탕으로 결정할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

해외 진출 전략도 공개했다. 일본과 동남아시아, 북미 시장을 우선적으로 검토하고 있으며 AI 번역과 AI 음성 더빙, 자동 자막 기술을 적극 활용해 한국 창작자의 글로벌 진출을 지원하겠다는 계획이다. 특히 AI 애니메이션과 웹소설 기반 콘텐츠가 해외에서도 경쟁력을 가질 것으로 기대한다고 말했다.

황 대표는 향후 AI 콘텐츠 시장이 기술 자체보다 작품성과 IP 경쟁력을 중심으로 재편될 것으로 전망했다. 한국이 글로벌 AI 콘텐츠 시장을 선도하기 위해서는 창작자 중심 플랫폼과 저작권 기준, 글로벌 유통 전략이 함께 구축돼야 한다고 제언했다. 또한 정부와 관련 기관이 AI 콘텐츠를 문화산업의 새로운 성장축으로 바라보고 창작자 지원과 해외 진출 정책을 확대할 필요가 있다고 말했다.

AI 콘텐츠 산업은 빠르게 변화하고 있으며, 플랫폼 경쟁 역시 심화되고 있다. 다만 이번 인터뷰에서 소개된 투자 계획과 서비스 확대, 오리지널 콘텐츠 제작 일정 등은 모두 아이플릭스 측이 밝힌 계획으로, 실제 추진 과정과 결과는 향후 사업 진행 상황에 따라 달라질 수 있다.

AI content OTT platform AIFLIX is building a specialized content ecosystem designed for AI creators. CEO Hwang Chang-seon emphasized that for AI content to evolve into an independent industry, creators need a platform where they can reliably publish their work and generate sustainable revenue. He presented a vision of AIFLIX as more than just a video streaming service, describing it as a platform that supports AI content distribution, monetization, and intellectual property (IP) expansion.

Hwang introduced AIFLIX as an AI content OTT platform specializing in AI-generated videos, animation, webtoons, web novels, music, and character content. Unlike conventional OTT services, which primarily distribute professionally produced films and television dramas, AIFLIX aims to provide creators in the AI era with a platform where they can showcase their work and build sustainable revenue streams.

Explaining the motivation behind the platform, Hwang noted that much of today’s AI-generated content remains scattered across social media platforms and personal channels. He argued that existing platforms have yet to recognize AI-generated works as a distinct creative industry.

“We believed there was a need for a dedicated platform focused exclusively on introducing, reviewing, and monetizing AI-generated content,” he said.

One of AIFLIX’s defining characteristics is its AI-focused ecosystem. Hwang explained that the platform is designed to transform a single AI-generated web novel into multiple forms of intellectual property, including webtoons, short-form videos, animated productions, and character merchandise. Rather than simply distributing content, the company aims to create an ecosystem where one creative work can expand across multiple entertainment sectors.

The platform also plans to implement a comprehensive content review process. In addition to verifying meaningful AI involvement in production, reviewers will assess creators’ artistic intent while examining potential copyright and publicity rights issues. Content containing excessive violence or material that infringes upon the rights of others may be restricted or rejected. Hwang emphasized that responsible content moderation must accompany creative freedom if the AI content industry is to achieve long-term growth.

Supporting creators is another core pillar of the company’s strategy. According to Hwang, AIFLIX plans to gradually introduce multiple monetization models, including paid content sales, advertising revenue sharing, sponsorship programs, and subscription-based services. He also stressed that creators will retain ownership of their intellectual property while the platform focuses on supporting content distribution and business expansion.

Addressing copyright concerns, Hwang described intellectual property protection as one of the industry’s most critical challenges. He emphasized that even AI-generated works require careful consideration of planning, prompt engineering, editing, directing, and the legal status of original source materials. The company also intends to take a strict stance against the unauthorized use of celebrities, public figures, or copyrighted characters. Rights verification procedures will be incorporated into the content registration process, with legal review conducted whenever necessary.

Hwang also shared his perspective on the relationship between artificial intelligence and human creators. Rather than replacing creative professionals, he believes AI will serve as a powerful tool that enhances human creativity. While repetitive production tasks may increasingly be automated, storytelling, emotional expression, and world-building will continue to rely on human imagination. He predicts that entirely new professions—including AI content directors, prompt directors, and AI IP producers—will emerge as the industry matures.

Currently, AIFLIX is operating a beta service while evaluating platform stability and user engagement. The service has already secured AI-generated short-form videos, animation, and web novel-based content while continuing to recruit creators. According to Hwang, users have shown particularly strong interest in AI-generated video and animation. The company plans to determine the timing of its official launch after thoroughly evaluating the results of the beta service.

Global expansion is another major objective. Hwang stated that Japan, Southeast Asia, and North America are among the company’s initial target markets. AIFLIX plans to leverage AI-powered translation, AI voice dubbing, and automated subtitle technologies to help Korean creators reach international audiences. He expressed confidence that AI animation and web novel-based content possess strong potential in overseas markets.

Looking ahead, Hwang believes the AI content industry will eventually be judged not by whether content was created using AI, but by its entertainment value, emotional impact, and potential for intellectual property expansion. He also argued that Korea can become a global leader in AI-generated content by developing creator-centered platforms, establishing clear copyright standards, and strengthening international distribution strategies. Furthermore, he encouraged the government and related organizations to recognize AI content as a new growth engine for the cultural industry while expanding support for creators and overseas market development.

“The era of AI content has already begun,” Hwang said. “AIFLIX aims to become the stage where creators with compelling stories and bold ideas can successfully reach audiences around the world.”
